Xactimate Hurricane Estimates
Hurricane Estimates can be complicated due to the fact that multiple insurance companies may be involved. The mitigation of flood damage will be covered by the flood insurance (possibly FEMA). The restoration of flood damage below the waterline will also be covered by the flood insurance but damage above the waterline will be a wind claim. Please keep this in mind when organizing your information. If the property is beyond repair then hopefully you will be offered a settlement for the full policy limits. Don’t request an estimate unless your structure is not being totaled.

Getting a hurricane estimate in Xactimate will depend on what type of damage was present
Exterior Xactimate Estimates
If your damages do not include flooding, framing, or windows, please proceed to the Roofs and Siding pages for a lower priced alternative for smaller claims.
Structural damage including any framing or windows (not wraps) will disqualify the estimate for the flat rates usually charged for roof and siding estimates.
*Roof estimates include all roof items and can have up to 10 additional items (siding, interiors, tree removal etc.)
*Siding includes most exterior items. Window wraps are included but windows are not.
Interior Xactimate Estimates
If the hurricane only caused interior damage you can proceed to the Water Damage page.
If flood damage was caused by a hurricane, we may need to write 3 separate estimates. A fee of 1% will apply.
- A mitigation estimate for the flood insurance company (without Overhead and Profit) considered single trade You can do this first and return for the restoration later.
- A restoration estimate for the flood insurance company (with Overhead and Profit)
- A restoration estimate for the primary insurance company for all wind damage (with Overhead and Profit) (unless single trade)
Our fee for a full hurricane estimate is 1% of the total of the estimate or estimates* We have a minimum charge of $100 but if the claim being submitted is expected to exceed $40,000, then a deposit of $400 is required. Estimates less than $10,000 will cost $100 and payment will start the clock on that estimate. Turn around time varies according to circumstances.
EagleView Based Hurricane Estimates
A good start for exterior claims is an aerial survey. EagleView has been around the longest and is established as a reliable source. EagleView offers Roof Reports with all the important measurements for roofs. They also offer Wall Reports which show the dimensions of the exteriors.
EagleView is offering before and after views of almost every property in the Hurricane area. However, during this crisis response period we are asking everyone to order their own EagleView reports themselves by visiting EagleView.com. Each residential report allows extra structures if needed. Because of trees and other situations, some reports may be unavailable. Eagleview offers commercial roofs at a fixed price and commercial exteriors at an “as quoted price”.
Using Our Forms for Interior Estimates
Please organize your notes on our forms.
General Information goes on our Cover Page and one is required for every submittal.
Damage to each room goes on the Room Form and one is required for room effected.
You may also want to use the Online Pack In / Out Form
If you indicate that the flood was to the entire main floor, then you can make that apparent on the cover page information form and not repeat on the per room form things like remove drywall 2 feet up and remove baseboard and quarter round. If not indicated otherwise, we have to assume that the insulation only pertains to the exterior walls.
